Hawkes Bay artist Constance Fein Harding is an Award winning Creative Photographer, using photography as her medium. It was later in life that she discovered a passion for photography. Not content with ‘just the photo’ she tried different ways of turning her photography into art. Inspired by the Old Masters such as Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Monet and others she found that by using a variety of methods, she was able to achieve a painterly effect in her works.
Constance was born in the US, but due to her Dutch Diplomatic father, they moved every 3-4 years and lived in various countries, including Teheran, Chile, Thailand, Kenya and Switzerland. She met her Kiwi Husband in 1982 and settlled in Waipukurau, New Zealand for 36 years. In 2018 with no more kids living at home, they moved to Napier and Constance loves the area. The coastline is very inspiring and she feels blessed to see the ocean every day from her window.
Textured Works - Constance has a library of photographs she has taken for the purpose of blending as textures. The main photograph is blended with a selection of these textures and edited to create painterly images.
Impressionism Works - These works are created mainly by using a slow shutter speed and a slight movement to create movement and blur. This helps to soften the edges of the subject and creates a painterly feel to the images. Most of these works are also textured to add to the painterly effect.
